Chevy EV Products
EVs allow for significant physical constraints associated with conventional vehicles – no gas tanks, engines, radiators or exhaust pipes. Battery packs can be arranged differently for each vehicle to optimize height and width for aesthetics, comfort, drive feel or more storage.
Chevrolet Grows EV Lineup with 2022 Bolt EUV and Bolt EV:
Powering the Bolt EUV and Bolt EV is the proven battery technology that helped make the Bolt EV the industry’s first affordable long-range electric vehicle. The 2022 Bolt EUV is the first Chevrolet offered with Super Cruise.
The redesigned Bolt EV share an architecture, but their designs are unique. No exterior sheet metal parts are shared between the two vehicles and the EUV is approximately.
EV Charging
GM’s holistic approach targets charging capability at home and at work, enhancing the public infrastructure, and is aimed at a seamless, convenient and economical changeover to electrified transportation for our customers. We also support a grid that uses renewable energy sources, to make the entire EV charging process sustainable from the start.

EV Investment
Between 2020 and 2025, GM will invest more than $27 billion in EV and AV product development spending, exceeding GM’s gas and diesel investment. The investments will create thousands of new, good-paying U.S. jobs. This includes plans to make our Factory ZERO and Spring Hill, Tennessee assembly plants dedicated to electric vehicle production.

Battery Facts
- Our joint venture with LG Energy Solution to develop and mass produce battery cells is expected to bring EVs closer to price-parity with gas-powered vehicles.
- GM is projecting that its second-generation Ultium packs will cost 60 percent less than batteries in use today with twice the energy density expected.
- GM plans 19 different battery and drive unit configurations initially, including horizontal and vertical stacks, to power vehicles ranging from affordable cars and crossovers to luxury SUVs and pickup trucks.
- Our ability to stack batteries vertically is unique in the industry and it allows for a flat cabin floor and more interior room than comparable EVs that use cylindrical battery packs.
- Our Ultium battery cells feature a state-of-the-art Nickel Cobalt Manganese Aluminum (NCMA) chemistry, which was designed to reduce the cobalt content in our batteries by more than 70 percent.
- We have enabled the reuse or recycling of 100 percent of returned batteries, and we will keep doing so.
- We apply a comprehensive battery and high-voltage safety strategy and development process to every EV we make, supported by a dedicated high-voltage battery safety team.
Investment Facts
- Between 2020 and 2025, GM will invest more than $27 billion in EV and AV product spending, exceeding GM’s gas and diesel investment.
- In October 2020, GM announced a $2 billion investment to transition its Spring Hill assembly plant to be dedicated to EVs.
- In January 2020, GM announced a $2.2 billion investment at its Factory Zero assembly plant to produce a variety of all-electric trucks and SUVs, which will create more than 2,200 good-paying U.S. manufacturing jobs.
- In December 2019, GM and LG Energy Solution announced plans to build a $2.3 billion plant in Lordstown, Ohio to mass produce battery cells for electric vehicles, which will create more than 1,100 new, good-paying jobs.
- The Lordstown plant, which will be about the size of 30 football fields, will have an annual capacity of more than 30 gigawatt hours and room for expansion.
- In 2019, GM announced it is investing $300 million in its Orion Township, Michigan assembly plant to produce the Chevrolet Bolt EUV, adding 400 jobs.
- In 2018, GM announced a $28 million expansion of its battery testing lab in Warren, Michigan. It is the largest, most advanced battery test lab in America for over a decade.
Product Facts
- By 2025, GM will launch 30 EVs around the world, and more than two-thirds will be available in North America. Cadillac, GMC, Chevrolet, and Buick will all be represented, with EVs at all price points for families, work, adventure, and performance.
- Three-quarters of our Bolt EV buyers are new to GM, and they are among our most satisfied customers and ambassadors.
- By mid-decade, we intend to sell a million EVs per year in our two largest markets – in North America, and with our joint venture partners in China.
- General Motors recently unveiled the Cadillac LYRIQ show car and the GMC HUMMER EV. They join the Chevrolet Bolt EV, which is currently on the market.
- The Cruise Origin was unveiled in January 2020, the first production vehicle from the General Motors, Cruise, and Honda partnership. The Cruise Origin is a self-driving EV with modular design developed for a million miles of 24-hour service.
- The Chevrolet Bolt EUV will be the first non-Cadillac to offer Super Cruise.
- GM R&D has filed more than 3,000 global patents related to electrification.
Charging Facts
- General Motors has partnered with Qmerit to enable electric vehicle owners to more easily find and obtain quotes from pre-approved EV charging station installers.
- There are already more than 25,000 public places across the US and Canada where our customers can charge their Chevrolet Bolt EV on Level 2 or Fast chargers.
- Our Energy Assist feature displays dynamic data from charging networks, providing Chevrolet Bolt EV drivers with the ability to find, initiate, and pay for charging at more than 40,000 charging stations in North America.
- We are adding 3,500 new EV charging plugs to our facilities throughout the U.S. and Canada, planning to eventually triple the number of charging locations we currently provide.
- We’re working alongside EVgo to build more than 2,700 fast charging stations over the next five years, tripling the size of the United States’ largest public fast charging network.
- EVgo chargers, enabled by the collaboration with GM, will be powered by 100 percent renewable energy, aligning with our passion and commitment to sustainability both inside and outside our walls.
